More than 2,000 runners will take part in the annual Daytona Beach Half Marathon events Feb. 9 and 10. New this year is the Beachin’ It 5K at 5 p.m. Feb. 9. This is an out and back on the beach near beach headquarters with awards and post-race celebration at Cocina 214 and LandShark Bar and Grill, located at 451 S. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach.
The 13.1 mile half marathon is at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, followed by the Lap the Track 5K at 8 a.m. Both races begin inside Daytona International Speedway. New this year, both events end across the street at One Daytona for a victory circle finish and post-race party. All runners receive a custom finisher medal and a race ticket to the NASCAR events Sunday, Feb. 10.
For those who want to log more miles, there are two challenge opportunities: the Dual 5K Challenge (both the Beachin’ It 5K and the Lap the Track 5K) and the Speedway Challenge (the Beachin’ It 5K and the Daytona Beach Half Marathon). Runners who complete the challenge receive a bonus medal and Speedway Challenge finishers receive a tech hat.
